The 10k mainly off-road run, organised by Active Life Coxhoe and sponsored by Coxhoe Quarry (now part of the Breedon Group), was won in the fastest time to date – 33 minutes and 3 seconds – by Daniel Jenkins from the Durham City Harriers. Breedon’s Coxhoe Quarry Manager Paul Halliday was there to present Daniel with his trophy, along with the women’s winner, Nicola Woodward of the Sedgefield Harriers, whose time was 43 minutes and 59 seconds.
Event organiser Bal Verdi comments: “Despite some challenging weather conditions this year`s event proved to be the best so far, with a total of 175 entries competitors from as far away as York. From the fastest winning time recorded, to our first over 70`s lady competitor with her dog, there was something for everyone in this great community event. Thanks to the team at Breedon’s Coxhoe Quarry we hope to continue to grow this annual event and maintain it as a highlight in the local sporting calendar.”
Coxhoe Quarry Manager Paul Halliday adds: “Breedon is very pleased and proud to support such a successful community event which promotes fitness and attracts runners from all over the area to take part. Well done to all the organisers and runners. We were delighted to once again support and work with Active Life Coxhoe to put on the most successful Trail Run to date.”
