The Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Project is a key project for Breedon Ireland on behalf of John Sisk & Son Ltd. A strategically important intersection of several major national routes, approx. 6km east of Cork City at the mouth of the Jack Lynch Tunnel. The project comprises of a series of direct road links between the N8, N25 and N40, and links to the R463 in Little Island and the Bury’s Bridge in Dunkettle.
The first phase is now open, providing a direct route for motorists travelling from the Tivoli direction onto the M8 Cork-Dublin motorway and diverting traffic away from the signalised roundabout.
25% of the planned 65,000 tons of bituminous materials have been placed to date and the project is on track be completed by Q1 2024.
